Who is Joelle Uzyel?
I'm Joelle Uzyel, and I run a residential design-build studio in Beverly Hills. I design and build high-end homes in Los Angeles, Miami and New York: new construction, full renovations, and the kitchens, bathrooms and closets inside them. One studio carries each project from the first drawing set through installation, so the design is never handed to someone who did not draw it.
I came to interiors through real estate development. I entered the industry in 2011 through my family's legacy in it, and that structural fluency still shapes how I work. I read construction drawings, I sit with the trades, and I make design decisions with the build in mind. For more than 15 years I have designed and built homes, and my completed residential projects total more than $250M. My work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle and the Wall Street Journal, and I co-hosted the series Murder House Flip as its lead designer.

Where I work
My studio is in Beverly Hills, and most of my work is in Los Angeles: Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades and Malibu. I also work in Miami and New York, and I take projects in Palm Beach, the Hamptons, Aspen and Deer Valley.
How I design
New world rooms. Old world mood.
I call it French Modern. The architecture is contemporary, with clean lines, open plans and real volume. The materials carry history: French plaster, herringbone stone, hand-carved profiles, stone selected at the slab. I build those details into the structure before the furniture arrives, so the result reads modern and feels like it has always been there.
I was born in Israel and grew up between Monte Carlo and Istanbul, and I work with clients in English, Hebrew, Turkish and Spanish.

What does design-build mean?
It means one studio carries the design and the construction coordination together. The team that draws the kitchen works with the trades who build it, so decisions are made once and nothing is lost between the drawings and the finished room.
Do you take remodels and new builds?
Yes. I design new construction from the first drawing set, and I take full renovations of existing homes, including kitchen, bathroom and closet remodels. I also work with homeowners rebuilding in Pacific Palisades and Malibu.
Can you work with my architect and builder?
Yes. I often join a project alongside the owner’s architect and builder and coordinate finishes, millwork, lighting and furnishings with them from plans through installation.
